A dog called Brutus is back on screen, beside a struggling musician who wakes up to find the woman he loves has vanished and that nobody remembers she existed. That is the video for "Sirf Tum", the new song at the centre of The Everafter, a four-track EP Darshan Raval released on Friday 23 October through Warner Music India.

The EP runs a little under 15 minutes. It opens with "Naal Naal Ve", which came out as a single on 30 September, then moves through "Sirf Tum", "Jaadu" and "Karwaan", the longest of the four at a little over four minutes. Youngveer wrote the words for "Sirf Tum", and Mir Desai produced and arranged it.

Dan and Niyati

The two videos tell one story. Raval plays Dan, and Barkha Singh plays Niyati, the woman from "Naal Naal Ve". In the new video Dan wakes up to find she has disappeared, and he turns the loss into songs in the hope of finding his way back to her.

"'Sirf Tum' is really special to me, especially because my wife, who usually doesn't like sad songs, loves this one," Raval said. "The song continues Dan and Niyati's love story from 'Naal Naal Ve', and I'm excited for audiences to see how their journey unfolds."

Four moods

He describes the EP as a set of different sides of romance, with each song given its own job. "Naal Naal Ve" is about finding love. "Sirf Tum" is the heartbreak. "Jaadu" is addressed to his fans, whom he has long called his Blue Family, and "Karwaan" is a road song.

"'Karwaan' is a song I can imagine people listening to while travelling through the mountains and enjoying nature," he said.

Raval has made a habit of putting out new music around his birthday, which falls on 18 October, and the lyric video for "Sirf Tum" went up on his own YouTube channel on the day of release. The Gujarati singer first reached a national television audience on the reality show India's Raw Star in 2014, and has since split his output between non-film singles and Hindi film songs.

On the road

The EP is tied to his Love Letters tour, and the new songs are meant for the stage. "The EP is also connected to my tour 'Love Letters', and I can't wait for my audience to experience it live," Raval said.
